JSMA Art Camp – Spring Breaks
Spring Break Art Camp
March 21-25, Grades 1-5
Morning Session: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; Afternoon Session: 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
After care: 12-1 p.m. or 4-5 p.m.
Tuition: Full day: $225 ($202.50 for JSMA Members)
Half day: $125 ($112.50 for JSMA Members); After Care: $25
Our commitment is to make museum programs accessible to all. Scholarships are available for financial support.
Comics and Animation (AM Session)
Students will explore drawing, cartooning, and storytelling in this fun and creative camp where they will learn about the comic book industry, animation, character design, and illustration techniques with professional comic artist Matt Brundage. Brundage’s work includes animation for Warner Bros and Spumco (the Ren and Stimpy Show), and comics work includes X-Men, Spirit the New Adventures, Dragons of Blizzard Island, Cadilacs and Dinosaurs, Ship of Fools, Facade, THHBBBT Productions, and he is currently working on DC Comics art ops. This art camp is sponsored by Imagination International, Inc.
Korean Art and Culture (PM Session)
From calligraphy, pattern design, and mask making to games and animation, students will spend the week learning about the art, culture, and heritage from the Land of the Morning Calm. The week will also include hands-on art lessons on papermaking and working with gold leaf. This art camp is made possible by the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies.

Family Day: Lunar New Year Celebration
Celebrate the Lunar New Year, an important holiday celebrated in many parts of Asia, with a free family day of art activities and learning experiences exploring multiple artistic styles and cultural traditions. Try calligraphy, create manga, and learn about kite making. Performances include Korean fan dancing, story time with the Springfield Public Library, a Dragon Puppet Theatre show, and a dance by Yujin Gakuen Elementary students. Megumi Unno will lead a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, and family-friendly museum tours will be offered in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and English.
