No-School Day Camp: Paleo Discoveries

Friday, October 14

8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

For students in Grades 3-5

School’s not in session, but the learning and fun continue at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History! What kinds of animals roamed, flew, or swam in ancient Oregon? Join us to find out! Students will investigate fossils, bones, and animals through a variety of fun activities. $40 (with a 10% discount for MNCH members). No-School Day Camp – Engineer It!

Friday, November 11

8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

For students in Grades 3-5

Learn about traditional Native American tools, clothing, structures and more! After exploring the newly reopened Oregon—Where Past is Present exhibit, students will put on their engineering hats and create their own technologies. $40 (with a 10% discount for MNCH members). LITTLE WONDERS—STORIES AND ACTIVITIES FOR PRESCHOOLERS

10:30 a.m.

This month’s theme is”Hiding in Plain Sight,” with stories and fun activities about how animals use camouflage to go “under cover” in their unique environments.

Friday, October 14

10:30 a.m.

In October, we’re “Looking for Leaves,” with stories and fun activities about plants and their changing autumn colors. Come learn about what blows in the fall winds and create some colorful leaf artwork to take home.

Friday, November 11

November’s theme is Early Engineers, with stories and activities exploring traditional tools used in Oregon’s Native American cultures.

Little Wonders regular admission price is $10 per family (up to two adults and four children). Admission is free for MNCH members. Families presenting Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards are admitted for $5 through the Museums for All program. <http://natural-history.uoregon.edu/museums-all-0>

FOSSIL FAMILY DAY

Saturday, October 15

11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Bring the family to the museum, and dig into Northwest natural history with University of Oregon scientists! Enjoy crafts, snacks, hands-on activities, and more!

  • Learn about rocks with the UO Geology Club
  • Prepare a fossil with museum paleontologist Edward Davis
  • Join a fossil-finding field trip at 1:30 p.m. (weather permitting)

Admission is $10 per family (up to two adults and four children) and free for MNCH members. Not a member yet? Sign up during Fossil Family Day and receive a 50% discount on your new family membership. OREGON—WHERE PAST IS PRESENT Open House Weekend 

Saturday, November 5-Sunday, November 6

11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Delve into Oregon’s story, from the archaeology of the first Americans to the dynamic cultures of today’s tribes. This newly enhanced exhibit combines interactive technology, hands-on experiences, and world-class collections—showcasing 14,000 years of Oregon stories, and inviting you to tell your own. Explore the galleries, try your hand at ancient weaving styles, test your skills as an archaeologist, and much more! Admission is free, and family museum memberships available at half-price throughout the celebration!
